What is iMERA?

iMERA is a one-stop automated X-ray analysis and decision making tool for managing orthopaedic injuries and conditions. iMERA uses advanced deep learning algorithms and decision tree models to achieve this. It brings the knowledge of the experts gained by decades of specialisation right to the frontline healthcare professionals.

What we solve

Analysing the musculoskeletal X-rays requires several years of specialist experience.  The explosion in the number of X-rays performed poses a challenge in keeping up with timely reporting. An automated instant alerting system can therefore support the front-line healthcare workers in making management decisions for many of their patients.

How we solve

Combining the expertise of experienced orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists and data scientists, we develop a unique software iMERA. iMERA generates automated reporting of musculoskeletal X-rays and provides management advice based on the finding of the X-rays. iMERA supports the radiologists by acting as an early warning system.

How does iMERA work?

We developed a proprietary meta-architecture network based on the state-of-the-art image classification and object-detection deep neural networks. It uses big data and supervised learning to achieve accuracy.

Collaborators

We collaborate with various hospitals across the globe for data sharing and trialling iMERA. We support the collaborators by allowing them to use this exclusive software unrestrictedly after full development. Furthermore we facilitate and support the local research activities of deep learning in radiology. We intend to build a global research network of the collaborating hospitals. 

Data Protection

We have utmost respect for data security and personal privacy. We obtain only fully anonymised data for our research. We have a set protocol for permanently erasing all personally identifiable information from the image files. We ensure that such anonymisation is undertaken within the premises of the collaborators by the personnel of the collaborators before the data is shared with us. We provide the necessary technical support for the anonymisation process such as DICOM anonymisation software. We meticulously undertake protection of the obtained data in line with robust information governance protocols. We are duly complaint with the current regulations including GDPR, ICO and HIPAA.

Krishna Boddu

Co-founder and CEO

Krishna is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust specialising in complex hip arthroplasty. He obtained extensive clinical and research experience from King’s College Hospital London, Imperial College London, Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Montreal and PGIMER, Chandigarh, India. He has published several research papers and has presented internationally. His current research interest is in application of deep learning algorithms in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He is also acting as the information governance lead for the company

Sandesh Lakkol

Co-founder and Operations

Sandesh works as a post-FRCS Orth senior registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital. 

He has extensive academic and clinical expertise working across several tertiary referral hospitals and academic centres in the NHS. 

He has a deeper understanding of the current challenges in healthcare delivery and a keen interest in providing innovative digital health solutions to such problems.

Jalaj Jain

Co-founder and CTO

Jalaj is a deep learning researcher who has expertise in developing propriety state-of-the-art deep learning neural networks for computer vision problems. He has 10 years of experience in computer vision including working for Samsung in developing facial recognition software. His experience includes optimizing deep learning networks for speed and accuracy, deep learning frameworks and video action recognition using spatiotemporal 3d CNN networks. He has proven track record with ability to take “concept” to “product”.

Martin Siebachmeyer

Co-founder and CMO

Martin is a musculoskeletal radiologist at St George’s Hospital in London and is sub-specialising in musculo-skeletal radiology. 

His research experience includes an MD in molecular genetics from the University of Duisburg-Essen. 

His current interest is in vertical development of deep learning applications in radiology as well as integration of AI application into radiology workflow.
